Meet Our Conductor

Ask Heath Vercher what his music is all about and he’ll say life

“Without a doubt, the most important aspect of music is its ability to reach other people and bring them together,” Heath says.

Heath’s music career encompasses professional work as a sacred musician, music educator, and composer and arranger. He has served on faculty for a number of junior colleges throughout south Texas and Houston, and has enjoyed a career as a full and part-time music minister since 2008.

In the Kingwood area, Heath serves as the conductor for Symphony Inspira, as well as Strikepoint Handbell Choir, and directs the wonderful choir of the Village Learning Center. He serves (and has served) on faculty for a number of Houston area institutions, teaching a variety of courses including music history and literature classes, music theory, class piano, and sight singing and ear training.

His work as a recording artist is broad. Six albums of original music (scheduled for re-release over the next several years), recordings of jazz and popular music, and several Christmas albums, he values the diverse sounds of the landscape of American popular music.

He is also active as an arranger and composer, writing original sacred works as well as arrangements for local and regional ensembles, and maintains an active private piano studio.
